Guiding For Sea Trout At Night

This includes a pre-arranged meeting time at the client’s accommodation or the Fishery, an inspection of the Fishery, discussion on tackle and tactics, fly selection, provision of use of the Fishery Hut (where available) during the night and guiding until 2 am. £85.00.

The maximum numbers of Anglers per Guide is 2, and the charge for a Guide for two Anglers is £130.00.

If you require a Guide beyond 2 am, the rates are negotiable.

NOTES:

Please ensure that you have adequate clothing, torch and refreshments. We can provide most items of tackle/accessories required, but strongly advise clients to use their own tackle, subject to its suitability for the river.

Basic requirements are:

  • Rod(s) of 9’, 9’6” or 10’ AFTM 7/8
  • Reels with floating, intermediate and sinking lines
  • Wellingtons or, preferably, thigh waders on smaller rivers (E. Cleddau) and chest waders on the Tywi/Teifi
  • Some leader material in 8lbs & 15lbs for night fishing with 3lbs to 6lbs for day fishing
  • A net, if the Angler likes them, although the Guides are not advocates of netting fish in the dark.
  • Standard sea trout patterns; we can provide many of the flies required.
  • A flask and torch are essential
  • Buoyancy jacket/life jackets, particularly on larger rivers where wading is likely. River to River will always have life jackets available.
